The short answer
Goal365 is a free study timer that combines a drift-free countdown with a short task list and calm ambient sound. Use the 25/5 Pomodoro cycle for revision, 50/10 for long problem sets, or a plain countdown for a timed practice paper. It runs in the browser, installs as an app, works offline after the first visit, and keeps your study history on your device.
Pick a rhythm for the study
The best timer is the one you will still use in week three. Start with 25/5 if you are rebuilding a study habit, 50/10 if the work needs a long warm-up, or 52/17 if you prefer a near-hour block. A plain countdown is useful for a timed practice paper; the stopwatch is useful when you want to measure a session without a deadline.
Build a study session in three steps
Keep the setup short enough that you actually start:
- Choose one task or name the session in the Focus view.
- Pick a sound scene or leave it silent.
- Start the block. When it ends, take the break away from your notes.
Sound that does not pull focus
Goal365 has 55 ambient sound beds and 15 scenes. Most of them are generated in the browser: white, pink and brown noise, rain, forest, waves, fire, night and several music beds. Pick one sound or a scene, set a master volume and fade, and the same sound can resume with the next timer. There is no stream to buffer and no third-party player to distract you.
Keep the task list small
Three task slots is a feature, not a limitation. A short list makes it easier to choose the one thing the next block is for. Check tasks off, reorder them, and let the selected task appear in the Focus view. If you need a place for everything else, the notes panel is there for a brain dump before the timer starts.
Study on a phone, offline
Goal365 is a progressive web app. Add it to your home screen and it opens full screen without an app store. After the first visit, the timer, tasks, notes and generated soundscapes work without a connection, which is useful in a library, on a train or anywhere the Wi-Fi gives up.
Privacy for students
There is no account and no analytics. Your study history stays in the browser on your device. That matters when the data is a record of when you worked, what you called the session, and how often you took breaks. Export a backup if you want to keep it; clear site data if you want it gone.
Questions people actually ask
Is this study timer free?
Yes. The timer, tasks, ambient sound and themes are free, with no ads and no account.
Can I use it for a timed practice exam?
Yes. Use Countdown mode for a fixed block. Check your exam's rules first; Goal365 is a timer, not an invigilation tool.
Does it work offline in a library?
Yes, after the first visit. The timer, tasks, notes and generated soundscapes run locally. Theme images and recordings need to load once before they are cached.
Can I listen to my own music?
Goal365 includes generated ambient beds and a few licensed recordings. It does not embed Spotify, YouTube or Apple Music playlists yet.
How many tasks can I add?
Three task slots are available in this version, with reordering, check-off and a selected task that appears in Focus.
Does the timer keep running when I lock my phone?
The timer stores an absolute end time, so it settles correctly when you return. Background audio and notifications depend on the browser and the phone's power settings.
