Offline focus

An offline Pomodoro timer you install once

The short answer

Goal365 is an installable web app that keeps working without an internet connection. After the first visit, the app shell, timer, tasks and notes are cached on your device, so a lost connection does not interrupt a focus session. Generated soundscapes work offline too. Theme images and recorded place sounds are available after they have loaded once.

What works offline

The core of Goal365 is local by design, so most of the app does not need a network after it has loaded:

  • Every timer mode: Pomodoro, Animedoro, 52/17, countdown and stopwatch.
  • Tasks, notes, settings, session history and the activity view.
  • The 55 ambient beds, one at a time; most are generated in the browser, and the place recordings cache after the first load.
  • Themes that have already been viewed; the rest fall back to their gradient.
  • Full-screen mode and the installed app shell.

What needs a connection the first time

A few optional things depend on the network or on media that has not been cached yet. Weather lookups need a connection. Theme photographs and the café, train and reading-room recordings are stored as files, so they load normally the first time and are then available from the browser cache. None of this affects a timer that is already running.

How to install Goal365

You can use the site in a browser tab, but installing it makes offline use more reliable and gives it a place on your dock or home screen.

  • Chrome or Edge on desktop: open the install icon in the address bar, or the browser menu, and choose Install.
  • iPhone or iPad: open the site in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
  • Android: open the browser menu and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
  • Safari on macOS: choose File, then Add to Dock.

Why local-first matters

A local-first timer has no account server in the middle. Your tasks and sessions are written to this browser, and the app does not need a round-trip to start a block. That also means the history is tied to this device: it does not sync, and clearing site data removes it. Export a JSON backup from Settings if you want a copy.

Is an offline timer still accurate?

Yes, because the timer does not count ticks. It stores an absolute end time and compares it with your device clock. A throttled tab, a locked phone or a reload does not change the end time. When you return, the remaining time is derived correctly and a finished segment is settled once.

Questions people actually ask

Does Goal365 work on a plane?

Yes, after the app has loaded once and any theme images or recordings you want are cached. The timer, tasks, notes and generated soundscapes run locally.

Do I have to install it to use it offline?

No. The browser cache can serve the app after a visit. Installing it as a progressive web app makes the offline shell more reliable and easier to reopen.

Do ambient sounds work offline?

The generated noise, rain, nature and music beds work offline. The café, train and reading-room recordings need to load once before they are cached.

What happens if I clear my browser data?

Your tasks, sessions and settings are deleted, because there is no cloud copy. Export a JSON backup first if you want to keep the history.

Does offline mode sync between devices?

No. Goal365 is local-first today, so each browser has its own data. Accounts and optional sync are planned but not part of this version.

Can I use it offline on an iPhone?

Yes. Add Goal365 to the Home Screen from Safari, open it once while online, and the installed app shell is available offline.
